Pheroth is looking to start up a group that deals in information, theivery, and possibly assassinations. Think of it as a large spy network where people trade information, and then a portion of the proceeds for the information goes to the PC giving it. It's meant for the discrete, and will support multiple faiths. He's not made this known ICly, but I'm looking to see if there's interest out there.

Murder is ethical leagues beyond spying and theft, and any group that does 'murder for coin' cannot pretend to be anything other than abjectly morally Evil. And that may drive away a lot of prospective thief types who are not interested in assassination. So unless your intention is to make this an unabashed Evil group, like an Assassins Guild that does less messy sidejobs at times, you may want to stay clear of assassinations completely so the group can at least stay somewhat neutral and this appeal to more shadowy character types than just immoral assassins.

We can leave assassinations out. Though, assassination is political, not really evil. All depends on whom the target is!

Maybe keep the assassinations a secret from the guild save the most loyal and upper echelons or elites

That's actually what I was thinking. A secret subset of the guild that would be alright with it. Strategic division of labor!

I would just make it a sort of "Shadow Network," which people can use for whatever purpose they please as long as they have the gold. If that means assassinations, well, that's on them baby, you're just providing a valuable service.

That's sort of the idea combined with a thieves guiild. You sell what you want to sell, people buy what they want to buy. Services can also be hired out.
