Netheril Reputation and Prestige System ( ON HOLD )

Reputation and Prestige System (RAPS)

Within Netheril, there are a number of factions that make up the Powers of the city and the surrounding regions. These are at the time of writing this: House Skettus, House Dukarrus, House Reschotti, The Arcanists Guild, and the Knights of the Lady. Each of these factions have a scale from -100 to 100 regarding how well you are known by them as a whole. While a person with -50 reputation would be seen as a villan against their cause, +50 would be someone who has time and again proved to be their champion!

All PCs start out with 0 Reputation. They are totally unknown by the factions, and unassuming! As a PC starts doing things around the world that the powers would notice, theyíll start either growing, or reducing their reputation. This is done though Player Recommendations.(Thatís you!)

Before we get into how to nominate a player for a Reputation Shift, letís first dive into what Reputation means realistically in the game. When a player accrues positive Reputation, so too do they gain potential to earn a currency called Prestige. This Prestige is something that can be earned without a DM in some cases, and can be rewarded to players likewise. Throughout the module there are different ways to spend your prestige, from acquiring a deed to buy land, to small shops that let you get some faction gear. You may also spend Prestige on DMable Actions. (Things like speaking to a minor noble, getting someone to vouch for you, etc..) You may only have as much Prestige as you have Reputation with a Faction. Think of Reputation like a wallet that can only hold as much Prestige as it is large.

Negative Reputation is different. Sometimes you are required to get negative reputation to fulfil a task. Negative reputation is also notoriety, get it too high and you might just find some of the factions Thugs putting a bounty on you, or trying to beat you up!

Now that you know what these things are, how do you get them?

Reputation is earned SOLEY through actions that are witnessed by others. If you see someone doing something interesting for (or against!) a faction, you should nominate them for a Reputation Shift. This is done by simply clicking them with your player Tool and following the prompts.

If you want to nominate an offline player, you can use the /raps command in game to bring up a wizard that will let you find the player youíre looking for. You can also use /raps to check your own situations.

Prestige is earned through doing tasks for a faction. Some quests may give you prestige as part of the reward, or a DM might hand it out for helping a faction.

It is very important that you the player, make nominations for reputation shifts if you see someone doing something interesting regarding a faction! It is through these nominations that characters can gain fame, or noteriety!
