Announcements / Concerning NPCs
« on: July 10, 2018, 05:03:29 am »
Just a quick reminder: Without a DM present, you cannot interact with or assume the actions of idle NPCs. There's no harm in a "he must be busy/asleep" comment for RP sake, but things such as sneaking past, stealing from or impersonating faction NPCs, a DM must be present.

If there are no DMs available, wait until there are before attempting these actions. Or better yet, involve fellow players instead  8)

Announcements / Regarding Vanilla NWN Loot drops
« on: June 24, 2018, 11:22:20 am »
Recently we've noticed that there have been some loot drops from standard NWN. Things like +3 items, properties such as OnHit/Keen/Immunity etc and also items that don't fit our lore such as books or armour and weapons with the incorrect backstories.

While we seek out the source of these items and change them to our own treasure system, we're going to be removing/replacing such items as we see them in player's inventories. Loot balance is a key part of our server and such items being in circulation can really harm our reward/loot system.

If you find an item that is obviously not part of our setting, please trash it and record where you found it so we can stop it from happening.

Thanks for your understanding!  8)

Master Pendragon apologises as all he has to offer is a small advertisement that was found to mention Everfrost.
Quote
"Are you, like us tired of your brew succumbing to the summer's heat? Yes? Well have we news for you!

Introducing, Everfrost Ale! Our newest addition to the Ever-Aged product line!

Using expert magical enhancements, Everfrost ale keeps ever-cold in its bottle until opened! Ensuring you never again must settle with a warm brew!

Coming exclusively to trade posts and taverns along the Southern Pass

Master Pendragon is unsure of what Pass it refers to, nor can recall where this missive originally came from.

The librarian There are few records on any established towns or settlements with the name Everfrost. There is a small mention of a village records that claims to have sold something listed as "Everfrost Ale", but the details are slim.

This thread is a mess. There are a couple of  useful ideas on here that the DM team will discuss but for now I am locking this.

If anyone thinks of specific suggestions for changes to any of our systems including death penalties, be sure to post it in the suggestions forum. Cheers!  8)

Not to mention if XP was cut off for a set amount of time be it a few days or whatever, many people will just not play until it's back, which is thd last thing we'd want. Personally I am pretty happy where it is now, amd watching everyone play it seems most people have no problems retaining those higher levels.

You need a DM for FD so that we can ensure things like that don't happen.

Netherese Library / Re: Fantastic beasts and where to find them...
« on: June 08, 2018, 07:10:55 am »
The assistant's eyes widen in equal parts fear and confusion when Chan begins his search, showing him to an entire collection of hundreds of books detailing animals, monsters and creatures within the Empire. However once his search is limited to Basilisks, one of the Assistants refers him to a specific excerpt from "Pexal Drass' Monster Repository", a collection of books that they have been considering expanding on for some time.

“A reptilian omnivore that will often eat plantlife in between its more nutritious but harder to find, meat diet. The Basilisk has an appetite for various types of prey, be it bird, reptile, man or beast. The Basilisk prefers to petrify any of its faster moving, living prey before consumption, due to it's low metabolism rate. The usual dull colouration and slow movement of a Basilisk causes few victims to even know of the its presence nor intent until it is too late. A Basilisk will rarely chase its prey when it is hungry, preferring instead to await another, easier target should one manage to resist its gaze. Regardless of external terrain, the Basilisk prefers caves, burrows and various other underground habitats to both conserve its energy and aid in trapping victims.”

Netherese Library / Re: Blackstone research (any DM)
« on: June 08, 2018, 06:52:13 am »
The librarian and various assistants would soon find that references to Eladrin in a Netherese library is difficult. Much of the history, biographies and recounts involving Celestials seem to be particularly surrounded in a thick coat of gossip, contraindicates and over exaggeration, especially when concerning elves and Fey.

There are tales of an Eladrin fighting off an entire horde of orcs by controlling lightning and the weather itself and an entire series of books involving a Ghaeles Knight-Errant, "Sarielis" and her forbidden love affair with her Bralani mentor. The librarian remarks that such a series sparked a dozen spin off books that are so poorly written he wouldn't dare stock them upon his shelves.

However when eventually translated, there seems to be several references to the Wonbrie Woods, several of the Library staff agreeing that there must be a link with that location and the Feywild for it to have been referenced in separate texts. The oldest of these texts speaks of various undisclosed landmarks in the Wonbrie Woods that have a counterpart or connection to the Feywild.

Beyond that, Master Librarian Pendragon recommends you speak to the elves, for their knowledge around such predates even Netherese arrival to this area.

House Skettus is the official retrievers and custodians of magical artefacts in the Valstiir Empire. All items deemed dangerous by House Skettus or the Arcanist Guild may be retrieved and stored within the Skettus Vault. Additionally, House Skettus may officiate licensed scavengers and relic hunters, allowing them scavenger’s laws on the retrieval and ownership of magical artefacts that have been unearthed in and below Valstiir.

Additionally, the positions of House Mage and Artificer are exempt from the Arcanist Guild’s testing rituals and may perform magical experimentation in cooperation with the guild should the individual seek to do so.

House Reschotti are the officiators of Slavery and Trade in the Valstiir Empire. All trading of flesh must be overseen and appropriately commissioned by House Reschotti, less you face the justice of their Slavers and Patricians. All general trade by merchants must be registered to House Reschotti, less they are excluded from Reschotti’s exclusive protection and insurance from damages.

Additionally, the positions of House Mage and Patrician are exempt from the Arcanist Guild’s testing rituals and may perform magical experimentation in cooperation with the guild should the individual seek to do so. As with all members of a Noble House, citizens that disrespect any House Reschotti employees may find themselves facing Reschotti justice, under protection of Lord Viktor Reschotti's title.
